This Best Apple Cider Margarita with Cinnamon Sugar Rim is the drink I make every single fall now. It’s tart, sweet, and has that little kick of cinnamon that makes everything feel cozy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) tequila reposado
  • 3 ounces (90 ml) fresh apple cider
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • ½ ounce (15 ml) orange liqueur (triple sec or Cointreau)
  • ½ ounce (15 ml) maple syrup or agave nectar
  • Ice
  • For the cinnamon sugar rim:
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Lime wedge or softened butter for rim

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cinnamon sugar rim: On a small plate, mix 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Use a fork to combine them evenly.
  2. Rim the glass: Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of your glass. Then, turn the glass upside down and dip it into the cinnamon sugar mixture, twisting gently to coat the entire rim. Tap off any excess.
  3. Fill the glass with ice: Add large ice cubes to the prepared glass, filling it about three-quarters full.
  4. Combine the liquid ingredients: In a cocktail shaker or mason jar, add 2 ounces tequila reposado, 3 ounces fresh apple cider, 1 ounce fresh lime juice, ½ ounce orange liqueur, and ½ ounce maple syrup.
  5. Shake it up: Add a handful of ice to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the shaker feels cold.
  6. Strain and pour: Strain the mixture into your prepared glass over the fresh ice.
  7. Garnish and serve: Garnish with a thin apple slice or a cinnamon stick. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh apple cider, not apple juice. Reposado tequila is recommended for its smooth, slightly oaky flavor. Chill the glass beforehand to keep the rim intact longer. Adjust sweetness based on the tartness of your apple cider.
