A simple, low-effort 7-layer taco dip that comes together in under 10 minutes. Perfect for late-night snacks, game day, or parties, this creamy and savory dip requires no cooking and uses pantry-friendly ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream, full-fat
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2–3 tablespoons homemade)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • Tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  1. Softening the cream cheese: Cut cream cheese into cubes and let sit for 10 minutes at room temperature, or microwave for 15 seconds to soften without melting.
  2. Mix the base: In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning. Mix with a rubber spatula until uniform and smooth.
  3. Spread the base: Pour the cream cheese mixture into a shallow serving dish and spread evenly to create a flat surface.
  4. Add the beans: Sprinkle the rinsed and drained black beans evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  5. Top with cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the beans.
  6. Add tomatoes and onions: Scatter diced tomatoes and sliced green onions over the cheese layer.
  7. Finish with olives: Add sliced black olives on top (optional).
  8. Chill and serve: Let the dip sit for 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the cream cheese to firm up slightly. Serve with sturdy tortilla chips.

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps. Drain beans thoroughly to prevent the dip from becoming watery. For best flavor, serve at room temperature. Can be made up to 2 days ahead; store covered in the refrigerator. Do not freeze as dairy may separate.
