Easy Halloween party appetizers featuring flaky puff pastry wrapped around savory meatballs with olive eyes, served with warm marinara sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed but cold
  • 2430 small Italian meatballs, thawed
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water
  • Small black olives, sliced in half
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • Pinch of dried oregano
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Thaw meatballs on the counter for 10-15 minutes until cool to the touch.
  3. Roll puff pastry sheets into rectangles and cut into smaller strips.
  4. Wrap each meatball with dough strips, leaving a gap at the top for eyes.
  5. Place half-slices of black olive on each meatball to create eyes.
  6. Whisk egg with water and brush lightly over the pastry tops.
  7. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with oregano and sesame seeds.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until dough is puffed and golden brown.
  9. Warm marinara sauce in a saucepan or microwave while sliders bake.
  10. Cool sliders for 5 minutes before serving with warm marinara.

Notes

Keep the dough cold to ensure flaky layers. If the dough gets too warm, chill it in the fridge for 10 minutes. Use small meatballs for better wrapping. Serve with warm marinara sauce for best texture.
