A crunchy, savory party snack made with Chex cereal, pretzels, and nuts, coated in a flavorful blend of melted butter, ranch dressing mix, and dried rosemary. Baked low and slow for maximum crispiness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cups Chex Cereal Mix (blend of Rice, Corn, and Wheat Chex)
  • 1 cup Pretzel Twists or Sticks
  • 1 cup Roasted Peanuts or Pecans
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 packet (1 oz) Ranch Dressing Mix
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup White Cheddar Cheese, finely shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Melt 1/2 cup unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat; do not let it brown.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together ranch dressing mix, dried rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine Chex cereal, pretzels, and nuts.
  6. Pour melted butter over the cereal mixture and sprinkle seasoning blend on top. Toss gently but thoroughly until all pieces are coated.
  7. Spread the mixture in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring halfway through (at 22 minutes) to ensure even baking.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool completely on the sheet (30-45 minutes) to allow it to harden and become crunchy.
  10. Transfer to an airtight container for storage.

Notes

Low and slow baking is crucial for crunchiness. Do not store the mix while warm, as it will become soggy. The flavors meld and deepen over the first 24 hours. For a nut-free version, substitute nuts with extra pretzels or sunflower seeds.
