These quick and easy pinwheel wraps combine nutty brown butter, creamy almond butter, and sweet honey rolled in soft flour tortillas for a satisfying snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (about 60 grams)
  • ½ cup almond butter (125 grams), smooth or crunchy
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 6 large (8-inch) flour tortillas
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter: Place the 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally as it melts, then watch closely as it starts to foam and turn golden brown with tiny brown specks forming (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat as soon as it browns to avoid burning.
  2. Mix the filling: In a heatproof bowl, combine the browned butter, ½ cup almond butter, 3 tablespoons honey, 1 teaspoon cinnamon (if using), and a pinch of sea salt. Whisk or stir until smooth and well blended.
  3. Prepare the tortillas: Lay out your 6 flour tortillas on a clean surface. Using a spatula, spread a thin, even layer of the almond butter mixture over each tortilla, leaving about half an inch clear around the edges.
  4. Roll the wraps: Starting from one edge, roll each tortilla tightly into a log shape.
  5. Slice into pinwheels: Using a sharp knife, cut each log into 1-inch thick slices, about 6–7 pinwheels per tortilla. Arrange them on a baking sheet or serving plate with the swirled side up.
  6. Chill or serve immediately: Refrigerate the pinwheels for 15–20 minutes to let the filling set slightly, or serve at room temperature.

Notes

Use a light-colored, heavy-bottomed pan to brown butter to avoid burning. Warm almond butter slightly if too stiff. Chill rolled wraps before slicing to prevent squishing. Variations include vegan substitutions and adding fresh fruit or seeds.
