These no-bake Oreo truffles are shaped like adorable black cats, featuring a creamy Oreo and cream cheese center dipped in a crunchy chocolate shell. Perfect for Halloween parties, classroom treats, or a fun project with kids.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies (regular, not double-stuffed)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 12 oz black candy melts or dark chocolate wafers
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or shortening
  • Candy eyes (white with black pupils)
  • Black jimmies or sprinkles (optional)
  • Pretzel sticks (broken in half for whiskers)
  • Orange or purple sprinkles (for ears, optional)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the entire package of Oreos (filling and all) into a food processor. Pulse until you have fine, even crumbs (about 30 seconds).
  2. Mix the base: In a medium bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs with the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract. Mix with a spatula or your hands until fully combined. The mixture should feel like stiff cookie dough.
  3. Shape the truffles: Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll into a ball. Gently shape into an oval (like a cat’s body). Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat to make 20-24 truffles.
  4. Add the ears: Take a tiny pinch of mixture (about 1/4 teaspoon) and roll into a small triangle. Press gently onto the top of the oval to form an ear. Repeat for the second ear.
  5. Chill the truffles: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes until firm.
  6. Melt the chocolate: Place candy melts or chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Add coconut oil or shortening. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until completely smooth.
  7. Dip the truffles: Remove truffles from the fridge. Using a fork, gently lower one truffle into the melted chocolate. Spoon chocolate over the top to cover completely. Lift out and tap the fork gently on the edge of the bowl to let excess chocolate drip off. Slide the truffle back onto the parchment paper.
  8. Decorate immediately: While the chocolate is still wet, press two candy eyes onto each truffle. Add two broken pretzel pieces for whiskers. Sprinkle with black jimmies if desired. Work quickly.
  9. Let them set: Allow the truffles to sit at room temperature until the chocolate is completely firm (20-30 minutes). If in a hurry, refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  10. Add final details (optional): Melt a tiny bit of white chocolate and pipe little mouths or noses onto the cats.

Notes

Make sure cream cheese is at room temperature for easy mixing. Chill truffles thoroughly before dipping to prevent them from falling apart. Work in small batches, keeping remaining truffles chilled. If chocolate thickens, microwave for 10 seconds. For best results, use fresh candy melts.
