A quick and easy sheet pan dinner featuring salmon glazed with a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, roasted alongside crisp asparagus. Perfect for busy weeknights with minimal prep and cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Four 6-ounce (170g) skin-on salmon fillets
  • 1 bunch (about 1 pound/450g) asparagus, trimmed
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (preferably low sodium)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC). Line your sheet pan with parchment paper or foil to keep cleanup simple.
  2. Trim the woody ends off the asparagus (about 1 to 2 inches). Spread them out on one side of the sheet pan, drizzle about 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and season lightly with salt and pepper. Toss gently to coat.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons honey, 3 minced garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and a pinch of red pepper flakes if using. The mixture should be glossy and fragrant.
  4. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place the salmon skin-side down on the remaining half of the sheet pan.
  5. Brush the glaze generously over the top of each salmon fillet. Reserve any leftover glaze for later.
  6. Place the sheet pan in the preheated oven and roast for about 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the asparagus is tender-crisp. Oven times may vary depending on fillet thickness.
  7. Optional: For a caramelized top, switch to broil for the last 2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  8. Remove the pan from the oven and let the salmon rest for 2 minutes. Drizzle any reserved glaze over the top before serving.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure even roasting. Pat salmon dry before glazing for better caramelization. Watch garlic carefully to avoid burning. Using skin-on salmon helps keep fillets moist and crisps the skin. Rest salmon after cooking to redistribute juices. For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos. Optional broil step adds caramelization but watch closely to prevent burning.
