  • 1 box (3 oz) orange flavor gelatin powder
  • 1 cup boiling water (for orange layer)
  • 1/2 cup vodka
  • 1 box (3 oz) yellow flavor gelatin powder (lemon or pineapple)
  • 1 cup boiling water (for yellow layer)
  • 1/2 cup vodka
  • 1/2 cup light rum (optional)
  • 8 oz block-style cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/4 cup cold water in a microwave-safe bowl and let sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
  2. Mix orange gelatin powder with 1 cup boiling water until dissolved. Let cool to room temperature, then stir in 1/2 cup vodka.
  3. Pour orange mixture into shot glasses, filling 1/3 full. Tap to remove air bubbles and refrigerate for 30-45 minutes until set.
  4. Beat softened cream cheese, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  5. Mix yellow gelatin powder with 1 cup boiling water until dissolved. Let cool completely, then stir in remaining 1/2 cup vodka and rum.
  6. Carefully spoon or pipe the cream cheese mixture on top of the set orange layer. Refrigerate for 30 minutes until firm.
  7. Pour the cooled yellow gelatin mixture over the set cream cheese layer. Tap gently to release air bubbles.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight until fully set.

Notes

Ensure each layer is fully set before adding the next to prevent mixing. Use full-fat block cream cheese, not whipped, for stability. If in a rush, you can speed up setting by placing the tray in the freezer for 15 minutes between layers, but watch closely. For non-alcoholic versions, replace vodka with fruit juice and add extra gelatin if needed.
