A cozy apple cider old fashioned cocktail that balances bourbon, fresh apple cider, cinnamon syrup, and orange bitters for a warm, seasonal drink perfect for fall evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz unfiltered apple cider
  • ½ oz cinnamon syrup
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • Ice (large cubes)
  • Orange peel (for garnish)
  • Cinnamon stick (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Chill your old fashioned glass in the freezer for about 10 minutes, or fill with ice water while prepping.
  2. Add ½ oz cinnamon syrup to the bottom of a mixing glass.
  3. Add 2 dashes orange bitters.
  4. Pour in 1 oz apple cider and stir to combine.
  5. Add 2 oz bourbon and stir gently for about 15 seconds.
  6. Add one large ice cube or two big cubes and stir for another 10 seconds.
  7. Express the orange peel over the glass (colored side down) to release oils, rub the rim, then drop it in.
  8. Garnish with a whole cinnamon stick.
  9. Let the drink rest for 30 seconds before serving.

Notes

Use large ice cubes to prevent dilution. For a non-alcoholic version, use a non-alcoholic whiskey alternative or skip the bourbon and add a splash of apple cider vinegar. The drink is best enjoyed immediately.
