A festive and easy-to-assemble charcuterie board featuring star-shaped sharp cheddar cheese, assorted cured meats, fresh fruits, nuts, and crackers, perfect for 4th of July celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ounces assorted cured meats (prosciutto, salami, pepperoni)
  • 8 ounces sharp white cheddar cheese, block form
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries (about 150 g)
  • 1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced (about 150 g)
  • 1 cup seedless red grapes (about 150 g)
  • 1/2 cup mixed nuts (almonds, pecans, cashews) (about 70 g)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or fig jam
  • A few sprigs fresh rosemary or thyme
  • 2 cups crackers (whole grain or multigrain) (about 50 g)
  • Star-shaped cookie cutter (about 2 inches / 5 cm diameter)

Instructions

  1. Slice the sharp cheddar block into 1/4-inch (6 mm) thick slices. Using the star-shaped cookie cutter, press firmly down into each slice to cut out star shapes. Smooth any ragged edges with your fingers. Save leftover cheese scraps for snacking or melting later. (Approx. 10 minutes)
  2. Arrange assorted cured meats on the cutting board. Cut large slices into manageable pieces or fold them artfully for visual interest. (Approx. 5 minutes)
  3. Rinse blueberries, grapes, and strawberries well. Hull and slice strawberries into halves or quarters depending on size. Pat dry gently with a paper towel. Portion mixed nuts into a small bowl. (Approx. 5 minutes)
  4. Place star-shaped cheese stars evenly across the board, spaced apart to create a base pattern. Tuck folded meats around the stars, alternating colors and textures. Add fruits in small clusters—blueberries near strawberries, grapes filling gaps. Place nuts in a small bowl or scatter lightly. (Approx. 10-15 minutes)
  5. Place small bowls or ramekins with honey or fig jam on the board. Add fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs for aroma and decoration. Arrange crackers along the edges or in a separate dish to keep them crisp. (Approx. 5 minutes)
  6. Step back and look at the board from above. Adjust spacing if needed to balance colors and textures. Ensure a little breathing room around the stars to make them pop visually. (Approx. 2 minutes)

Notes

Cut cheese at room temperature for clean star shapes. Drizzle honey or fig jam to add sweetness and tie flavors together. Store cheese stars refrigerated with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking. For vegetarian option, replace meats with marinated olives and roasted vegetables. Use gluten-free crackers for gluten-free diet. Toast nuts lightly with smoked paprika for a warm element.
