These Sparkling Lightsaber Pretzel Rods are a quick and easy candy-coated treat perfect for kids’ parties, featuring colorful candy melts and edible glitter for a dazzling finish.

  • 1 cup each of colored candy melts (blue, green, red, or gold)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • About 1/4 cup edible glitter or sparkling sugar in complementary colors
  • Optional: small star-shaped or metallic sprinkles
  • Wax paper or parchment paper for drying

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper and set out pretzel rods and dipping supplies.
  2. Place about 1 cup of candy melts into a microwave-safe bowl. Add 1 teaspoon vegetable oil to thin the mixture.
  3. Microwave on medium power for 20 seconds, stir, then repeat in 15-second intervals until smooth and pourable.
  4. Hold a pretzel rod about halfway down and dip the top portion into the melted candy. Twist gently as you pull it out to coat evenly.
  5. Let excess candy drip back into the bowl for a smooth but not thick layer.
  6. Immediately sprinkle edible glitter or sparkling sugar over the candy coating. Add sprinkles now if using.
  7. Place the dipped pretzel on the lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining pretzels.
  8. Clean your bowl or use separate bowls for each candy melt color and repeat melting and dipping for variety.
  9. Allow pretzels to rest at room temperature for 20-30 minutes until candy coating is fully set and firm. Optionally chill in fridge for 10 minutes to speed up setting.

Notes

If candy melts thicken while dipping, gently reheat for 10 seconds to restore smoothness. Leave a clean handle area on pretzels to avoid sticky fingers. Work quickly as candy melts set fast. Store in airtight container at room temperature up to 5 days or refrigerate up to 2 weeks. Use only edible glitter labeled safe for consumption.
