A quick and easy Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough with mustard eyes, perfect for kids and last-minute parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard beef or pork hot dogs
  • 1 tube (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • Cream cheese or white frosting (optional, for eye whites)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unwrap hot dogs and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  3. Unroll crescent roll dough and press seams together to form a solid sheet.
  4. Cut the dough into thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide.
  5. Wrap dough strips around each hot dog, leaving the top exposed for the face, and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  6. Brush the dough with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Let cool for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Dab mustard onto the exposed hot dog heads to create eyes, adding cream cheese for whites if desired.
  10. Serve warm.

Notes

Use parchment paper to prevent sticking. Handle dough gently to avoid tearing. Ensure oven is fully preheated for flaky texture. Mustard eyes should be added after baking to prevent burning.
