Spooky Salami Roses: Easy Halloween Party Idea

spooky salami roses - featured image

A fun, no-cook Halloween appetizer featuring salami rolled into roses with cream cheese, served on a spider web mustard board with crackers, cheese, and seasonal garnishes.

Ingredients

  • Thinly sliced dry-cured salami (e.g., Boar’s Head or Tuscan Style)
  • Softened cream cheese
  • Dijon mustard
  • Small sturdy crackers (water crackers or thin sesame seed crackers)
  • Sharp cheddar or gouda cheese, cut into cubes
  • Black olives or kalamata olives
  • Green grapes
  • Roughly chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Place softened cream cheese in the center of each cracker, spreading it slightly but not to the edge.
  2. Take a slice of salami and place a small amount of cream cheese in the center.
  3. Starting from one edge, gently roll the salami into a tight spiral, trapping the cream cheese inside.
  4. Place the rolled salami rose on top of the cream cheese-covered cracker and press gently to stick.
  5. Repeat for all crackers, aiming for 10-15 roses.
  6. Place a dollop of Dijon mustard in the center of the serving board.
  7. Use a toothpick or small spoon to drag the mustard outward in a circular motion to create a spider web pattern.
  8. Arrange the salami rose crackers around the mustard web as if crawling out of it.
  9. Scatter cheese cubes, olives, grapes, and walnuts around the board.
  10. Place olives strategically to resemble spiders on the web.
  11. Add final garnishes to fill gaps and serve.

Notes

If salami tears, let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. If mustard is too thick, mix with a tiny bit of water. Crackers may get soggy if left out for more than two hours; assemble close to serving time. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free crackers. For a dairy-free option, use dairy-free cream cheese or hummus.
